Gabriela Mistral was a well-known Chilean poet, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1945. She was also a teacher, and had an important role in the educational system of Chile. This unique book of 27 poems for younger readers both from Chile and the world brings her work closer to a New Zealand audience, with the poems appearing in Spanish, te reo Maori and English. It is published to celebrate the relationship between Aoteaora New Zealand and Chile and to share Mistral's work with a new audience. Translations by Jessica Sequeira, Leonel Alvarado and Hone Morris.
