The Ledge

The Ledge

If you are looking for a new take on the suspense thriller genre, then you will be pleasantly surprised when reading The Ledge, by Christian White. It’s a shift from the current all too popular detective storylines that seem to be filling the books shelves at the moment.

Set in small town Australia, the book follows two different timelines. Now and back in the past 1999 when three teenage boys were forced to make a pact to never tell anyone..... no one can ever find out what happened. Now, human remains are found in the forest of the small country town. As the police investigation builds... the three friends, now men, return to their hometown as they anxiously wait to find out if their secrets will be exposed. This is a coming-of-age story and the central group of sixteen-year-olds take their connection seriously and support each other even when things take a dark turn but as time moves on, what was an ironclad childhood bond is never quite as it seems.

The novel is a slow burn thriller, where the suspense builds incrementally with each chapter. The reader is kept on edge, unsure of who to trust.

You think, you have it all figured out. But no, with red herrings and twists a plenty this book will have you flipping through the pages to the final reveal, I did not see coming.

First time reader of this author, I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes open for his next novel!
